The Lighter-Than-Air SocietyThe Lighter-Than-Air Society was founded in Akron in 1952 by employees of Goodyear Aircraft, and is one of the oldest continuously-operating organizations devoted to the subject of LTA. Since the 1970s, membership has been open to the public, and the current roster includes residents of the U.S. and sixteen foreign countries (many are concurrent NAA members). Dedicated to furthering knowledge of the history, science and techniques of buoyant flight, The LTA Society publishes a newsletter and bestows annual Achievement Awards for outstanding contributions to LTA aeronautics. Individuals who have made lasting contributions in the field of LTA are recognized by Honorary Life Memberships. The LTA Society has been hosting annual banquets in the Akron for 44 years. The LTA Society is pleased to have its annual meeting in conjunction with the Naval Airship Association's Reunion in Akron, Ohio, USA. See you there September 18-20, 1997!
