The Reunion 2003 Hotels
The Holiday Inn and The Plantation Holiday Inn Express.
At University Mall,
Your reunion committee is pleased to have
made arrangements to utilize these two very conveniently located, modern well
appointed hotels as reunion headquarters. They are positioned a 2 minute walk
across from each other, the Holiday Inn being the location for all reunion
activities. The major difference between them is that the Holiday Inn contains
all meeting and reception facilities and is, therefore the host hotel. The
Plantation Holiday Inn Express has a continental breakfast while the Holiday Inn
has a restaurant. The University Mall is a 5 minute stroll away with a multitude
of shops, stores and movie theaters. Within easy walking distance of the Hotels
are more restaurants. The Naval Air Station Pensacola is a 30 minute drive and
the Pensacola Historical District is about a 15 minute drive. A major outlet
mall, The Rivers Center, is located at Foley, Alabama, about a 50 minute drive
and well worth it. It's large!
The room rate is sixty nine $69.00 per day
good for the period of our reunion plus or minus two days. The first "official
reunion event" is the reception scheduled for 6 PM on Thursday the 18th. The
last is the departure breakfast on the 21st. Call the Holiday Inn reservation
desk at 850-474-0100 to schedule your accommodations. Identify yourself as with
the Naval Airship Association Reunion to get the reunion rate. I am told that if
you use the Holiday Inn central reservation service (800-HOLIDAY) you might not
get our discount room rate. We have 50 rooms reserved at each Hotel with a
cut-off date of August 27, 2003. Be prepared to guarantee your reservation with
a major credit card or advanced deposit of one night's room cost. For those of
you who are arriving by air a free Airport Shuttle is provided by the Holiday
Inn for both hotels. There is a direct line phone in the luggage pick-up area
marked "Holiday Inn, University Mall". Just pick it up - the hotel desk will
answer.
For those of you who are driving in, the
hotels are located at the intersection of North Davis Highway and I-10 exit 13
(old exit 5). Go south on Davis a really short distance and make a right turn at
the first Mall entrance. The hotels are on your right a short way down the road.
If you pass that first right, just make the next right (or the next). Then
another right and the hotels are directly ahead.
For things to do when not attending a
reunion, the City of Pensacola has added to and made more attractive her
downtown and Historical districts. The National Museum of Naval Aviation has
made many changes and added many new exhibits. So, if you think that a visit to
this area is "just old hat", you have a real treat awaiting you.
